In Palestine, traditional vessels like the jarrāh and ‘asaliyyah were essential for daily use, particularly by women. The jarrāh was used to carry water from springs, requiring strength and balance, while the smaller ‘asaliyyah was used for storing honey and dairy, or water carried by young girls showcasing their skill. A cloth piece called "ḥawīṭiyyah" or "ḥawāh" was placed under these containers on the head for stability. These practices were not only practical but also played a role in social customs related to marriage.
